Songs currently on replay

Hey all!
Decided to put up another post!!
And today I shall post up some songs that I have been frequently listening to.

Some disclaimer is that for some songs/bands, you might want to turn the volume down a bit.

1. Issues
I got really hooked to this band a few months back when I happened to read about them on an issue of Rocksound which I got when I was in Aussie.
Since then, I have been hooked to their songs. The worse of them, Princeton Avenue (My most fave), King of Amarillo and Hooligans.
Totally recommend this band to anyone who can take post-hardcore music. I think they fall under that category..I'm not good with music genres. Sorry~

2. Avenged Sevenfold
Yes! Avenged Sevenfold is coming back with a new album that is dropping by on 27/08/2013
As fans of A7X may know of The Rev (R.I.P. He was one hell of a drummer),
the song so far away really tugged on my heart. Especially the end when there were videos of The Rev just being himself. He was really gone too soon.
But that aside, their new song "Hail the King" is power-packed A7X style and synyster gate's guitar solo is awesome as always. Its worth a listen!

3. Survive The Prophet
I just got to know about them a few days back and whoo, they are on my replay list now.
They are a japanese band however sings in english and I must say this song, 3AM
makes me wonder if they were drunk when they sung it. But still like it though.

4. The Summer State
So The Summer State is actually a local band and if you hear this song and think why is it so familiar,
well 98.7fm has been playing this song for a while. Also, just a small little heads up, they will be playing at this year's Ignite so do come by RP on the 24th of august if you love 'em!

5. Xia Junsu
Yes! Yes! Yes! Xia is back with a new album!! And this song, 'incredible' is my most fave from the whole album. It is a very lively song as compared to the ones from his last album so I'm very happy. This song just makes Junsu who he really is. Also all those dance moves and hip thrusting in the music video can just drive me crazy.

6.Infinite
The last song I want to share would be the newest single from Infinite. Destiny. Now I have a lot of mixed feelings towards this song. I mean I love the song but the dance, I feel it looks nice only when its live. But the music video is pretty ambitious, considering the fact that they shot it in the states and the scenes featured background from popular movies such as 'Transformers' and 'Inception'.

Alright then, I shall post again when I have the time.

Cheers!

A long-winded update

The one who hasnt been blogging in a while,
The one who is currently stressed up due to a lack of inspiration
The one who just wants to go to the beach

Hey! What's up people!!
Just realized I haven't been blogging at all.
Well, I've been busy all week and will get even busier as time comes.
So a little update on what I have been doing.

Work
View of Clarke Quay that I pass-by every time
I work into the night at work.
I had some time off  from work due to the haze which made us postpone our events
and sort of screwed our plans but still I appreciate it because by the end of the last event, I was really worn out.
Hence for 2-3 weeks it was a great feeling to go home immediately after school and knock out in the afternoon.
But after a while, due to the frequent conflict with my parents, I started dreading being at home.
And just nice at the height of the conflict, I was called to work!
So yes, the past 2 weeks, though I've been called less frequently, I have been going to work.
And honestly, the long bus rides home will always be my favorite way to end my day.
Strolling around at night then I have a journey through the city on my way home.
Its just a 1hour relaxation moment for me everyday.

School
School has been the same as always. I just realised I'm left with 4 more weeks till the end of Year 2, Sem 1.
Time passes really fast. It seems like just yesterday I came up to being a year 2.
Results and daily grades are okay so far, I am pretty surprised actually cuz I had so much things to balance that I thought my results would be terrible but I actually passed all my UT1s.
I have no high hopes for UT2 though, especially my media law and ethics. I am bound to fail that because I stoned out for 5 minutes during the test.
My class has been a joy as well, its not as boring as I thought it would be at first. Yes we have our quiet days but these days, its been fun. So many sarcastic jokes and mispronounced words that makes my day.
Also, I actually have learnt to play monopoly deal and it is quite fun. Though I get laughed at a lot because I tend to play the wrong cards and fail to 'visualize'. But all's good.

Joker with the umbrella
My first Monopoly win
Which happened after I played for 2 weeks.
Slow yes I know.

Movies
I have been watching a lot of movies in the theaters these days and I honestly don't mind watching more. I feel like watching movies in theaters these days but of course over the weekends I have caught up and watched the movies I wanted to as well.
Movies I watched so far;
Movies I've watched the past few weeks
Pacific Rim
[Which was good by the way. The graphics was awesome but the kaijus has got to die after 3 punches..I kinda grew tired because the bloody monsters just won't die. Also there were a few moments that made me go WTF!?]
Despicable me 2
[It was so friggin cute. Omg, I dont care about the plot the fact that there were so many minions and the minions actually played a main role in the movie just made me happy. Its just one of those movie that you want to watch to relax, smile and let the inner kid inside you enjoy.]
Now you see me
[I was actually very disappointed with this movie. I expected a better/solid plot.like seriously. Don't get me wrong, i thought the magic tricks was amazing..yes I get easily mind-blown by magic..but I felt that the movie was forced to end the way it ended]
Grown Ups 2
[I must say the plot was terrible. I mean how many things can you do in a day? It felt like the film was snipped and placed into the movie like a slideshow that is made to present about how your not old for anything. But then again, I won't it was all bad because it was friggin funny and there was so many epic moments that make you cringe laugh and just hit the person sitting next to you. If you have friends who don't care about plots and just want humor, this movie is definitely for you.]
Movies I can't wait to watch!!
The Wolverine! Red 2! Thor:the dark world, R.I.P Rest In Peace and the list can go on.
But The wolverine is on my top list now..

Life overall
I actually have been out this whole week. Sunday I went shopping with cheryl, brindz and QQ and bought a pair of new vans and shirt. I had a nice day out with them as we chatted and ran around orchard just to find a show that brindz wanted. It was a day well spent.

Tried eating at Everything with Fries
It was not bad, just very filling for me
Monday
I had a UT..yeap it was media and law ethics..the one which I know I will definitely screw up.
Tuesday
I had work and was constantly calling people. I had to get my bursary after work but the bus was as driving as slow as a tortoise!!  I barely made it before the closing time to get my bursary and got it over and done with.
Wednesday
@ Chomps Chomps
Satay, Stingray,Chicken Wing, Oyster Omlette,Sambal kailan
Delicious but screwed my diet plan haha
but it was worth it.
was chomps day with 3 of my classmates and QQ! Chomps is all the way at Serangoon but I still went with them anyways.. We reached early and we waited to break fast with QQ. As we waited for time to fly, we played the category game, chatted over some stuff about class. I realised how fun it was to eat with your friends.
Thursday
I went to watch grown ups 2 with QQ, Cheryl and bian and had dinner afterwards. Again, epic conversations over dinner.
Finally Friday
I did nothing much except being deliberately late for school because I wanted to ditch school but i couldn't because the school will send a letter. Sadly I was only late by 40 minutes. After school we played monopoly deal again and as usual it was a warzone. I swear when we play monopoly deal its as if we are really losing our property and money.

Overall I had a great week and I just wished this continued.
If this continues everyday I actually see a reason to live. I have a reason to say I have enjoyed and done things I want to do.
Hope to have another awesome week in the coming week
but I can forsee myself being stressed as I have just been given an assignment and I have an event coming up next weekend.
Also, I have been trying to hide this fact and trying to forget that I'm turning a year older soon
but unfortunately the time is coming. .
Probably will have another post about my thoughts on that if I have the time.

Cheers :)

Saturday 13 July 2013

I'll be the one to be stepped on.
The one to be ignored.
The one who's always second best
The one who's only known when you need me.

Sometimes I really wonder what happened to me growing up.
Why am I so different from other people my age.
Why do I have such low self-esteem.
Why do I never stand up for myself.
Why do I let people use me and find me when they need me.
Why I don't complain when I feel things are unfair.

Why can other people make friends easily?
Why does it seem everything goes their way and yet they are not happy?
Why complain when you have eveything?
Why say others when you are similar.
Why.
And why am I always there to clean everything up.

Family, Friends, School.
I dont know how to digest things sometimes.
The more I interact with people, the more I want to avoid.
The more sick I become
and the more angry i appear.

I get pissed at myself
My mood swings get worse.
I start blaming others.
I start to become one of those who don't appreciate thing.
What is this monster that is inside of me?

I need to get better but I can't
I'm not strong enough.
My life will be shorter then I imagined if this continues.
Unless I see a purpose in it.

Same thing, Same ordeal, Same cycle.
Fights after fights. Whether with friends or family.
When one ends another one starts.
And the day both these fights end.
Will be the day I leave this place.

BayBeats 2013 -Last day but better late then never!!

Walking from the underpass from cityhall, even before we went up to the floor where the chillout stage was located we could hear the music from the artist that was playing the song.
I was as excited as a child who was getting her candy.
I couldn't believe it!
I finally could attend Baybeats!
After 3 years of waiting, I finally found a friend to go with (My wifey cheryl, thank you so much for going to the event with me)  and overcame my parents to attend it!
(Yes my parents are pretty strict and anal about the time I should go home but these days they are letting me out when I want to and I appreciate this freedom a lot...going back to the post...)
If you are not sure what baybeats, here is a summary.

An overview of all the 3 stages.
Top left : Powerhouse, Bottom left:Arena
Right: Chillout Stage

Baybeats is one of the biggest music festival of its kind in singapore AND the region that stretches over 3 days. Pop, indie, metal, punk, folk you name it its there. There are 3 stages Arena(Outdoor Theatre), Powerhouse and Chillout Stage(Concourse). It started in 2002 and is organized by Esplanade.
Best thing about this event apart from the fact that the music genre varies? It is free with no strings attached.. Also if you are interested in local music there were booths that sold EPs from local bands and basically its heaven for those who just wanna listen to some music.

I'm not familiar with the current local music scene (except electrico..more about this later).
Or rather I don't know anything about the music scene cuz I rarely go out my comfort zone to watch them play and I guess thats the great thing about baybeats its a huge event to just chill to all the different music there and realise 'hey there's actually some great local bands out there other then the ones that are on the radio!'.

View of the laser show
So moving on with my experience...

The pinholes was the first group we passed by as we made our way to the arena stage.
We stuck around for one song and decided to proceed on as my friend wanted to the other stages that were outside. Once we walked out of the esplande,  music greeted us. 7nightsatsea was playing at the Arena and their not bad but I only got to hear one song sadly, guess I went too late.
After that we walked over to powerhouse and caught about 2 songs from Dyeth before my friend,Cheryl, told me she couldnt take the music (Cuz it was super loud I guess I can say they are more to the metal side?  but I personally enjoyed it..it was rocking, wish I stayed to see the moshpit though, I may never want to partake in it but watching it is just so fun!!)

We then went to watch this band from indonesia called "L'Alphalpha" before catching the band my friend was looking forward to. Busco.
From the introduction of the emcee, I heard that they were inspired by the band 'Switchfoot' and they definately had the 'switchfoot' element there. Enjoyed the performance next to my spazzing friend who became very interested in their music after she checked them out on youtube. And yes their last song totally won me over. I just wished I could hear the singer's voice clearly. Is it just me or does Singapore like their stages to have the background music over the singers? Anyways their last song was 'Hold your horses' if I'm not wrong and I loved the part whereby they inserted the snippet from 'bittersweet symphony'. The drummer was good in trying to get the crowd going but the crowd was just kinda quiet and though I wanted to be all hyper it was kinda awkward. Enjoyed their music though!
Electrico!!

After that we both just sat at the bench watchin the laser show (which was entertaining) as we waited to catch electrico. But then powerhouse started another gig and it was from this local band called 'A vacant affair'. Before they started, many people started crowding around the stage as I was interested my friend and I then went over to watch. Boy was I blown away!! Totally fell in love with their songs!!
It was really not bad!! Didnt get to hear the tittle of the songs but I liked 'mirrors' and 'we are not the same.
I wished I could stay longer but we eventually went to catch electrico.

Now before you go ape-shit on me saying why did I abandon 'A vacant affair' for electrico.
Simple, I've been a small fan of electrico since I was young. They are the first local group I've heard next to pug jelly (which was my most fave then). The first song I heard was 'I want you' and though I didnt really like it the first time I heard it, eventually over the years I started liking it and I was super elated when they got to perform for National day!
So yes, I was excited to see them and my friend managed to find us seats at the side.
I couldn't contain the kid in me as I watched them do some soundchecks.

Soundchecks!!

But then during the soundchecks I saw someone that was familiar but yet it slipped off my mind...as I was thinking of who he was, the emcee came up and introduced electrico!
The crowd was huge!! They played some of the songs that they were currently working on and told the audience to say "yeehaw" if we approved of it and yes it was nice to here that they are currently working on new songs! As they were no tittle they introduced the song by their track numbers. I liked track 11 (if my memory did not fail me)...ALSO they played love in new wave!! Omg I was totally in my own world when they played it.

Then came the surprise! Mas (Got his name wrong many times on different platforms..feel so bad..cuz I only hear his name and didnt really exactly google for it)  the ex-guitarist for pug jelly and now the dirt radicals , he's also the vocalist/guitar for nothing to declare so many things he is now, but anyways he was on stage with electrico!! Whooooaaa...He looked really different from the last time I saw him (which was many many years back on Lime magazine that has since stopped publications in around '07 so imagine the years I have not seen their faces)
He played really awesomely!! (yeah thats a word)

In conclusion I just really really enjoyed myself and honestly if you havent,
attend baybeats next year and just enjoy yourself.
If you think you will be out of place its okay! Just chill!
Music has no boundaries and its meant to be explored!

Alright then till my next post!!

Cheerz!!

p.s Check out my friend's post on her take on baybeats if your interested at http://cherylwonggg.blogspot.sg/ !!!
(she has more clearer pictures then me cuz she brought her cam along)

Relaxed week!

Hey!
So as said in the tittle I had an awesome week last week. (sounds weird but okay..)

I managed to catch a movie, ate buffet, stopped by JEM and attend BayBeats (Oh yeahhhh)

Movie: White House Down

So the movie I caught last thursday was white house down starting Jamie Foxx and Channing tatum.
I think it was a nice film. The action scene was awesome and if you were a girl you would definately squeal alot due to the sudden explosions (like my friend it was funny to see her go "omg omg omg" haha maybe its just my friend...but..) Anyways the disappointing part for me was maybe the plot. The ending was really just typical and I kinda expected a more solid/realistic plot. But there was some really epic/hilarious moments and I would probably give it a 3.5/5 stars for it.

Buffet: Kuishinbo

Had a family day out on saturday and we went to eat at kuishinbo that is a japanese buffet located at jurong point. We initially wanted to go JEM but the parking space was seriously mind-blowing so we ended up heading to jurong point. If you love seafood especially snow-crab this is definately the buffet for you..Also this is the first buffet I've been to with a handful of sushi variety so I definitely enjoyed myself. (I totally immersed myself with sashimi and sushi..was a happy girl for a day) Dinner can be expensive on weekends as it was about $51 per person including service charge so yeah but it is definately worth a try if you love crabs as I said above. (Free flow on weekends!) However there are some discounts if you are a student, child below a certain age and senior citizen. There is also an on-going discount on the weekdays so do check it out if you love japanese buffets.

JEM

My parents and I eventually decided to go a day without the car and made our way down to JEM by train on a sunday. WRONG CHOICE. It was very crowded and honestly I barely enjoyed myself (How did people shop during the day it was open!?) We walked around for a while and I went to make a kinnokuniya card because they had an offer whereby if you signed up you would get 20% off your buy just for that sunday AND you recive 40% voucher. As I frequent Kinno I decided it was time for  me to get a discount card. I eventually bought dan brown's inferno (it was 30% off already...totally saved a lot) and alternative press. Eventually the crowd was too much and we left the place. While my parents headed to orchard I went for baybeats.
Can't wait to read it and maybe review it!

I will probably do another post on Baybeats itself cuz I think it deserves a post by itself.

Alright then! Cheers :)

P.s All the photos are not mine and the rights belong to the people who uploaded them. I got them off google..except the last photo. That is mine.
